3). SACRED COW ( © Lachlan McLeod )
The sacred cow of India on a skinny Delhi street ,
Living on the garbage that beggars wouldn't eat.
Nuzzle in the embers of burnt out rubber tyres,
Snuffle for existence amongst the twisted wire.
The sacred cow of India spotted by the truck,
The men have come to capture you to make an extra buck.
They run you at the gangplank, twist your tortured tail,
They stab you with their wooden poles and crush you in the rails.
Please don't, please don't kill the sacred cow.
Please don't, please don't kill the sacred cow.
Please don't, please don't kill the sacred cow.
The West is rushing madly into the jaws of death,
Material solutions to fill the emptiness.
The sacred cow of India , as old as time itself,
Survivor of invasions, receptacle of wealth.
